Not a whole lot of change today for Kaydence. She is still on her ventilator. Her platelets are still low, but they are hoping that changes soon and put off a transfusion again today. Her white cell count was up a little, so to be cautious, she is being administered antibiotics. She had a very restful day according to her nurses. I feel she is in good hands. She's in God's hands.
Today God showed Himself to Tommy and me very well. We got up and went about our new little morning routine and Tommy asked the NICU nurse about church services. She told him that there was a service in the hospital chapel. When I went down to see Kaydence, Tommy told me about the service and we both decided to attend.
You'd think that in a hospital that the chapel would be packed full on a Sunday morning. Nope. Inside this beautiful chapel sat the chaplain, the janitor, Tommy, and myself. Oh well, you only need a few souls to have church! The chaplain introduced herself and gave us an order of service. It looked so similar to the one we get at our church at home and then I opened it up. I must say before I go on that we have been pretty emotional since yesterday. Wade and Abigail came to see us and it was so very hard to see them and then watch them leave. We miss them very much and they miss us. Plus Wade just couldn't understand why he couldn't see his, emphasis on HIS, baby sister and buy her a big ol' stuffed bear. He is so precious and loves his sisters.
So back to the service...I looked down at my order of service and the service was identical to our services at home. Pastor Joy had emailed us her notes on today's sermon and had shared with me earlier in the week the passage of scripture she was preaching on because it dealt with the scripture we have been praying since December. Well, I looked at that order of service and saw that the scripture referenced was the passage we have been praying: Mark 10:46-52. It is when the blind beggar calls to Jesus and says "Jesus, Son of David, have mercy on me!" Tears just began to run down my cheeks because it spoke so loudly to me - and this was before the service began. Every person has a different spin on what or she hears in the scriptures, and I loved what the chaplain said. She said that it was amazing to her that a blind beggar was the first to herald Jesus by such a noble title on his journey toward the cross that day. The second point she had was that how wonderful it was that on the day he opened his eyes to physically see, he opened them first to the perfect love of Jesus. Now that really is beautiful to think about.
I thought about how babies open their eyes to their parents' love for them, but it's not always perfect for all babies. However, I know that Kaydence opened her eyes to the perfect love of Jesus on her birthday as well and even if we are not with her every moment, she is completely wrapped in that perfect love. My prayer today is not only for her healing, but that each person receives their own healing and sees their lives opened to the perfect love of God.
